Through the 165 years of James Cropper’s papermaking history there have been enormous changes in the types of market we serve. However the same principles have always supported our approach to all those different markets; these are to value all customers and to treat all, whether large or small, with the same degree of integrity, understanding and friendliness.

The history of the paper industry globally over the past 30 years is littered with the failure of countless paper mills, whilst the majority of those who have survived have done so by combining with others to make ever larger papermaking groups. James Cropper is different, prospering through its independence and its distinctive identity.

Today James Cropper is truly a global player. From its home in the beautiful English Lake District, paper and board in all its coloured and textured forms is sent to over 50 countries throughout the world.

We supply a wide spectrum of markets ranging from packaging materials for some of the world’s leading luxury brands through creative papers for design, book cover, framing and archival to papers for many demanding technical applications. All of them need James Cropper’s ability to make bespoke and customised products to meet the very specific needs of individual customers.
