The Opportunity
Implement the strategy to maintain and improve this infrastructure, including capital proposals working with the team leaders. You will mentor and train other electrical staff to develop a wider understanding of systems.
Work closely with control system OEM’s to ensure continued support and obsolescence is understood and managed. Engage with Engineering Leaders, sharing resource where required to get key tasks completed.
Key Accountabilities
Provide technical support to drive downtime down and ensure repeated breakdowns on PLC and control systems are eliminated, and plant is effectively maintained for optimum plant performance.
Carry out Root Cause Investigations (RCI) with teams across site on Plant performance effected by PLC and Control systems
Identify specialist resources and works with other Engineering leaders to utilise these resources
Responsible for spares requirements and for areas of accountability, in conjunction with Purchasing & Stores.
Management of compliance with maintenance and operational legislative requirements and Company policies and procedures.
Provide supervision of contractors under departments control
Draft and interpret technical specifications in order to determine causes of plant problems, work requirements, spares and labour.
Communicate with external technical specialists as required.
Report effectively on breakdowns and gives resolution to the departmental leaders, including results of RCI’s
Analyses drawings, data measurements during fault finding
What will make you successful?
HNC/D in a relevant Electrical Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience in Engineering role
Understanding of technical detail and parts planning
Understanding of ID Hammer system
Edge and understanding of maintenance requirements of papermaking machines, finishing machines, services and associated equipment.
Understanding legislative issues relating to plant and systems relating to own area.
Ability to write maintenance plans for equipment.
Knowledge and use of sophisticated engineering test and measurement equipment.
Good verbal/listening/writing/computer skills are fundamental to the job when conducting team meetings, attending meetings and influencing other employees.
An analytical problem solver: to be able to solve complex problems with systems and plant, able to seek advice or assistance when required.
