Summary:
We have an opportunity for a reliable energetic person as a Maintenance Assistant located in our Rotterdam, New York facility.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Support shipping and receiving activities
Preparing items for shipment (packaging and labeling)
Receiving items (record keeping of package receipt)
Material movement (loading, unloading, and delivering items, esp. chemicals).
Staging of raw materials to support production
Removal of site waste and recycling (cardboard, triple rinse drums, bulk non-hazardous nickel and coating waste, hazardous waste drums, etc.)
General janitorial and maintenance duties to ensure a safe and productive workplace (e.g. painting, snow/ice removal and salting on walkways and handicap & visitor parking)
Operation and maintenance of waste water evaporator including detailed record keeping, maintaining cleanliness, managing treatment, processing, & barreling of condensed waste
Routine site inspections (safety/emergency equipment such as eye wash stations and emergency lighting, ladder, forklift, lift, etc.) to ensure a safe and productive workplace
Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Requirements
US citizen
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrated experience in operating a variety of equipment including snow blowers, power tools, and small hand tools
Fork lift certification; training to be provided
Flexible approach to work to accommodate changing priorities
Able to work well with minimal supervision and follow written and verbal instructions
Effective communication skills
Support the policies, goals, and objectives of the company
Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocols
Perform all work in a manner that is in full compliance with all applicable regulatory agency requirements, especially OSHA, EPA, and DEC

This is a hands on position, working Monday through Friday, typically from 7:00 to 15:30, primarily in a production environment. There is some opportunity for flexibility within this work schedule to meet individual needs. Infrequent night and weekend work may be required.
This position requires working with hazardous chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, protective gloves, and, at times, a respirator. This position requires passing medical clearance for respirator use and ensuring there are no conditions that may interfere with the face-to-face piece respirator seal or respirator valve function.
You must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
