The Opportunity
As part of our newly formed Centre of Innovation, the role of Market Analyst will help identify step change growth opportunities for the James Cropper group in current, new, and adjacent markets and materials.
You will carry out project specific research to inform and educate a wider internal audience and help build business cases for T&I proposals and conduct research drawing on external sources of knowledge and translate their relevance to James Cropper.
This could come from:
Global megatrends and macrotrends
Market analysis (of both current and new potential markets)
Development of technology roadmaps
M&A market review in sectors of interest
Key Accountabilities
Collect relevant data from various sources such as market research reports, industry publications, online databases, and surveys. Analyse and interpret this data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can help the organisation make informed business decisions.
Use statistical and analytical techniques to identify key drivers, market opportunities, and potential risks. By applying your expertise and business acumen, you can provide valuable insights that guide strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Staying up-to-date with the latest developments and activities within the industry and related sectors by monitoring market trends, competitor activities, consumer behaviour, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.
Analysing political, economic, social, and technological trends on both domestic and international levels.
Building and nurturing external networks by engaging with industry experts, attending conferences, participating in industry forums, and collaborating with external partners
UK and international travel will be required.
What will make you successful?
A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, marketing, or any discipline that required research and interpretation. Advanced degrees or certifications in, these disciplines can be beneficial.
Previous experience in market research or a related field is highly desirable.
This may include roles such as market research analyst, business analyst, or marketing researcher. Familiarity with market research methodologies, data collection techniques, and statistical analysis
The ability to analyse complex datasets, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights
A curious and inquisitive mindset, always seeking to learn and stay updated on industry trends, research methodologies, and analytical techniques. Proactively pursuing professional development opportunities and staying open to new ideas and perspectives is valuable.
Needs to have excellent critical thinking skills to analyse complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions. The ability to think logically, evaluate information objectively, and solve problems is essential.
Initiative and comfortable with ambiguity – needs to be able to find the path to solving problems, which may not be clear.
