We have an exciting vacancy for a Materials Scientist in our TFP Technology Team to provide technical support to colleagues and customers throughout the business. The jobholder will be required to work closely with both customers and suppliers; supporting research projects and progressing new product developments from inception to commercialization.
The jobholder will cover a wide range of activities including completing and directing laboratory-based feasibility work, coordinating trials on production machines, supporting and directing collaborative R&D projects along with some process improvements responsibilities.
The jobholder will be trained to operate the TFP Pilot Line, which is a small (500mm wide), wet laid non-woven manufacturing line. In order to fulfill this requirement some moderate manual handling, mixing of chemicals, weighing of fibre, cleaning, and basic maintenance of the machine will be required as will the ability to drive a FLT.
The jobholder’s time will be split between the TFP Technology office, lab, pilot line facility and production areas. There will also be an occasional requirement to attend international trade shows, and to visit both supplier and customer sites. Candidates should be a highly motivated and relish a varied role within a team of interdisciplinary industrial scientists. You will need an enquiring and probing mind and be able to prioritise workload according to business needs. Candidates must be qualified to degree level in a Science or Engineering subject.
