Strategic Sourcing Manager

The role of a Strategic Sourcing Manager is to oversee and manage the strategic sourcing activities within the business. Overall, the Strategic Sourcing Manager plays a critical role in optimising the procurement process, driving cost savings, and establishing strong supplier relationships to support the organisation's strategic objectives.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies that optimise the procurement process and drive cost savings, operational efficiencies, and supplier relationship management.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy Development: Developing and implementing a strategic sourcing strategy aligned with the business overall objectives and financial goals. This involves identifying areas for cost reduction, supply chain optimisation, and supplier consolidation.

Supplier Selection and Management: Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability. Establishing and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while maximising value.

Contract Negotiation: Leading negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements. This includes negotiating pricing structures, service levels, and other terms and conditions to drive cost savings and mitigate risks.

Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with the supply chain, such as supplier disruptions, price fluctuations, and geopolitical factors. Developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply.

Performance Monitoring: Monitoring supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and contractual obligations. Implementing performance management frameworks and conducting regular supplier evaluations to drive continuous improvement.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as production, fibre, finance and legal teams, to align sourcing strategies with business objectives. Working closely with these teams to understand their requirements and ensure effective execution of sourcing initiatives.

Market Intelligence: Staying abreast of market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings. Utilising market intelligence to make informed decisions and drive strategic sourcing initiatives.

Compliance and Ethics: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in sourcing activities. Promoting sustainable and responsible sourcing practices, including diversity and inclusion initiatives.

People Management : Lead the Strategic Sourcing team, setting clear expectation and delegation of workload.


What will make you successful?

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field.

Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a leadership role.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, operational efficiencies, and supplier relationship management.

Experience in managing supplier contracts, negotiations, and performance management.

Familiarity with procurement processes, market dynamics, and industry best practices.
