We have an opening for a professional specialist to provide a timely, efficient service to internal and external customers. They will identify and specify ingredients (including shades) to achieve product specification and minimise cost to the company. We are looking for a candidate with the appropriate technical qualification looking to gain experience.
This is a fixed term contract of up to 12 months (Maternity Cover).
Provides an expert technical service to the paper business in one of the key areas of: colour, laboratory technical services and mill chemistry
Co-ordinates the workload in the area of expertise
Identify and implement raw material margin improvement opportunities
Troubleshooting support throughout the paper division
Handle legislative enquiries affecting our business and sales of our products
Leads Green Belt continuous improvement projects
Actively develops a technical network and uses appropriate sources (eg exhibitions, suppliers, internet) to support the research and product development activities of the Paper division.
Keeps up to date with technical developments within JCPLC
NPD project management from laboratory screening work to organising and running machine trials.
Accountable for personal safety, following appropriate safe systems of work and contributing to safety improvement.
Key accountabilities specific to a role will be detailed at individual PDR level
HND in Science or related subject
2 years relevant experience
Technical Skills Required:
Understanding of colour physics and shade formulation
A good knowledge of chemistry including chemicals used in papermaking
A knowledge of the interaction between papermaking fibres, dyes and chemicals.
Needs to interpret and meet customer requirements.
Understanding of the different attributes of paper dyes and chemistries and the system and equipment used to utilise them
Needs good prioritisation and co-ordination skills.
Requires a good knowledge of laboratory techniques and safe systems of work.
A good knowledge of the Papermaking
A good knowledge of the product Development Process
Understanding and use of relevant Company computer systems.
Good organisational and planning skills
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
Good colour vision.
Understanding of CI tools eg DMAIC, RCI
Rate of Pay:
Up to £14.07 an hour depending on experience and development needed.
