Our team of paper technologists and craftspeople have a 170 year heritage of lovingly creating uniquely beautiful and tactile speciality papers for modern and traditional applications in bespoke colours, weights and finishes. Working closely with artists, designers and luxury brands our inspirational papers help support some of the quality craftsmanship and creative innovation showcased at this event.
From 3 - 7 May 2017, the third edition of London Craft Week takes up residence in the capital. This annual event showcases the very best international and British creativity and craftsmanship through a beyond luxury journey-of-discovery. The curated programme brings together over 200 events from all corners of the globe fusing making, design, fashion, art, luxury, food, culture and shopping.
From the V&A to the Shard and the British Museum to The House of Lords, events take place at some of the capitals most iconic buildings and influential institutions. The programme spans a broad spectrum from unknown makers to celebrated masters and hidden workshops to famous studios, brands and galleries. Programme partners include the world-renowned creative brands; Princess Yachts, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Georg Jensen, Mulberry, Louboutin, Vacheron Constantin, and Burberry alongside leading names from fashion and art including Vivienne Westwood, Mary Katrantzou, Hussein Chalayan and Grayson Perry. Museums and galleries such as the V&A, Geffrye Museum, Wallace Collection, and the Science Museum host a series of events while international content includes wood carvers from Japan, glass artists from Sweden, porcelain painters from Germany and guitar makers from Spain.
Throughout London Craft Week, visitors are invited to experience beautiful things not just as static objects but in the full context in which they were created. This five-day immersive programme highlights how imagination and talent combine with the very best materials and techniques. Visitors can meet artists, designers, makers and engineers, get a glimpse behind-the-scenes of famous brands and landmark buildings, see familiar products deconstructed, learn how things are made and even have a go themselves.
‘London Craft Week is a response to a renaissance in the appreciation of creativity and craft; to the role of the hand, unique skills and true talent. It is another example of what, at its best, the world’s Creative Capital does so well – mixing glamour with cutting edge; heritage and contemporary and the commercial with the cultural. It is rash to make any predictions in this period of profound change but I’m going to attempt two for 2017. First, that people will continue to search for ‘beyond luxury’ in terms of exceptional creativity, skills and talent. Second, that London will continue to demonstrate its place as unique global creative crossroads, open to new ideas and welcoming to all.’ Guy Salter OBE MVO, Chairman, London Craft Week
As paper sponsor for the event James Cropper is supplying papers from the ‘Coffee’ collection, made from reclaimed coffee cup fibre from our unique recycling facility, for official event literature.
