Sustainable Fibre Innovation
Own your story right back to the source
Being located in the foothills of the English Lake District since 1845, the concept of stewardship, of looking after things for the next generation, is embedded in our business operations at James Cropper, as well as to the papers we make.
Paper is sustainable by design, being widely recycled and from renewable sources. As paper making pioneers, we are challenging convention and opening up a world of possibilities by creating well-balanced fibre compositions from responsible sources that help the regeneration of natural systems.
By purchasing our wood pulp from sustainably managed forests, certified to FSC® or PEFC® standards, we enable you to stand by your environmental commitment. You might even choose to use one of our post-consumer waste options which includes fibre from our unique CupCycling™ facility as part of your FibreBlend.
We have access to an unrivalled portfolio of fibres and use our experience to select the right raw materials for your project. We call this developing your ‘grade’, this is usually a blend of fibres to match the product requirement.

It is important that in this ever changing world, that our drive towards sustainability is underpinned by the right strategies and decisions, and it is with this in mind that James Cropper believes the right balance is maintained between the utilisation of fully certified virgin wood fibre and reclaimed fibre sources. Our Product Portfolio offers choices that are designed to drive us towards our goals of an equal balance, ensuring selections of fully certified FSC® Mix and FSC® Recycled options to support the sustainability of our planet, and the needs of our clientsAdrian Dolan, Director of Product Management James Cropper Paper

Forests provide a range of ecosystem services that are vital to society and human well-being; clean air, protection against soil erosion, regulate local and global climates, enhance water retention, facilitate pollination and improve landscape aesthetics.
Forests also play an important role in the mitigation of climate change, as they are the Earth's main carbon sink. With the help of forest managment, today, European forests are growing and stand 30% larger in area than they did in the 1950s!
