Innovation sits at the heart of the modern James Cropper Papers, working to set the agenda for pulp fibre technologies in a digital age. International partners come to us to develop new products that identify and respond to their needs, whether it is a new paper that utilises their waste materials or an existing product that calls for a previously unobtainable colour. Our capabilities are only stretched by our imaginations.
From the end of the production line as a spool of perfect paper or sheet of board, to the final destination as a frame mount in a national gallery, a hand-finished binding for a classic book, a sheet of the highest quality digital photography paper or a department store’s waterproof carrier bag, the entire journey can be taken care of by James Cropper Papers.
The company’s historic home in Cumbria is the UK’s only such facility to have an integrated picture Matboard/Mountboard factory integrated with the paper mill, serving customers from around the world. The requirement for our customers to manage their supply chain is minimised or reduced to nothing as the James Cropper team oversees the creation of their product, from inception to delivery, on one manufacturing site and with the help of trusted partners. Direct contact with Technologists, Production Managers and Testers means that every stage of development can be checked, adjusted if necessary and checked again.
A broad range of machinery available within the converting facility means that James Cropper can produce a wide choice of special effects, building up multi-fibre constructions that marry combinations of paper and film, laminating our limitless range of base papers with high-specification polyester, acetate and polylactic acid (PLA) materials with remarkable outcomes. Varnishing and embossing machines, plus one of the largest guillotines in Europe forms part of the impressive array of facilities at our customers’ disposal.
In addition to Mountboard, James Cropper regularly manufactures Frame Ready Inkjet printable boards for retailers, Display Board for Point of Sale/Point of Purchase advertising, Archival Storage and Conservation Products, Luxury Packaging Materials and a selection of laminated and coated papers and films with special effects and functions for a wide range of industries. Each comes with the James Cropper Papers assurances of quality and customer care.
