Sustainable packaging solutions take centre stage at Luxepack New York

Luxe Pack New York held its 16th annual exhibition at New York City’s Pier 92. More than 3,500 industry professionals attended the show, which featured 240 packaging suppliers specialising in premium packaging for cosmetics, fragrance, fashion, fine food and more.
This year sustainable packaging products and solutions were front and centre at the “In Green” awards. Luxe Pack honoured, 2 exhibitors who demonstrated revolutionary sustainability, Golden Arrow won for its luxury moulded fibre packaging created from bamboo and bagasse, and James Cropper for it’s unique CupCyclingTM initiative.
A Solution to Recycle Coffee Cups
It is estimated that consumers globally go through 600 billion paper and plastic cups every year, according to research by Starbucks. The paper cups are lined with a thin layer of plastic which is difficult to separate from the paper, therefore difficult to recycle.
James Cropper may well have the solution for the paper cup problem in the UK, with big brands behind the initiative, including Costa Coffee and McDonald’s installing cup collection stations. The CupCycling plant currently has the capacity to process 500 million annually.
