The Hallmark Greetings Card Story

We were delighted to partner with superbrand greetings cards, party goods and stationery retailer Hallmark Cards to create a card collection made from upcycled coffee cups.
Launched in-store October 2019, the collection includes 44 designs with 100% recyclable cards and envelopes. The products have all been designed within boutique collections and made using our recycling take-away cup facility, CupCycling™.
“Transforming a morning latte into a beautifully-designed and positive sentiment really captures the spirit of CupCycling™."Steve Adams, M.D. James Cropper Paper

This story includes two family businesses with caring and innovation at the heart of all they do. The companies are working towards a world that’s less wasteful, more beautiful and creating a moment to show you care with a card.
"A second life for coffee cups can often be more compelling and longer-lasting than its first.
This partnership demonstrates the value this precious raw material has, and how it can produce truly creative outcomes, setting a high benchmark for outstanding circular design."

“We already make Hallmark Cards from responsibly sourced paper, so we were delighted to work with James Cropper to help drive forward another sustainable way to make an impact by taking some of the today’s waste and turning it into a beautiful card that creates a lasting moment for tomorrow.”Alison Murnane, Head of brand, Hallmark Cards

James Cropper's Rob Tilsley, Regional Sales Manager and Tim Nattrass, Account Manager, met at Hallmark Cards to update on this exciting project in September 2019.
Alison Murnane, Head of Brand at Hallmark and Natalie Bartlett, Product Manager demonstrated their new bespoke display unit for the unique range of their Croppers CupCycling™ greetings cards.
The range was launched at Progressive Greetings LIVE 2019.
At James Cropper, we have already transformed more than 100 million coffee cups into cards and hope to recycle up to 500 million cups a year into papers and packaging of all colours.
"Every card in the new Hallmark collection has a compelling story to tell; the raw material that was once used to carry a morning latte has been given a second life, bringing a smile to someone's face in the form of a beautiful greetings card.
As the creators of CupCycling™ - the world's first process designed to upcycle coffee cups - we are proud to be working with Hallmark on what is an outstanding example of circular design - it goes to show that the sky is the limit in terms of creating new value from coffee cup waste."
Steve Adams, managing director - James Cropper
