Recycled Paper Manufacturers
Own your story right back to the source
Every bespoke project starts with the selection of raw materials. By understanding the varying qualities of pulp, we are able to meet specific requirements in terms of strength, bulk, opacity, texture, and of course, colour performance.
Start your journey with James Cropper Paper - Tell Your Story With Paper
Paper is one of the few truly renewable, recyclable and sustainable materials we have. By purchasing our wood pulp from sustainably managed forests, certified to FSC® or PEFC® standards, we enable you to stand by your environmental commitment. You might even choose to use one of our post-consumer waste options which includes fibre from our unique CupCycling™ facility as part of your custom blend.
We have access to an unrivalled portfolio of fibres and use our experience to select the right raw materials for your project. We call this developing your ‘grade’, this is usually a blend of fibres to match the product requirement.

CupCycling™ - Post Consumer Waste (PCW)
A unique source of FSC® and PEFC® certified post-consumer waste, made from coffee cups processed through our CupCycling™ facility.
The mill has the capacity to upcycle 500 million paper cups each year. Recycling is the preferred end of life option for paper cups over landfill or incineration. Standard 20% fibre addition, can be in combination with other waste fibres to meet legislative and/or customer specific requirements for recycled fibre content.

Used Office Paper - Post Consumer Waste (PCW)
The key to sustainability is to keep waste fibre in the loop, and paper is recycled far more in reality than other recyclable materials such as plastics.
Europe is the global champion in paper recycling. In 2020 73.9% of all paper and board consumed in Europe was recycled, much of this is derived from locally sourced office waste. Paper based packaging is recycled at a rate of 83%, which is more than all other types of packaging materials.

Paper Offcuts - Post Industrial Waste (PIW)
We reuse and recycle resources where possible, not only our own waste but converting trimmings which are collected, categorised and re-used in papermaking.
Recycling the fibre from sources of industrial waste makes great use of the yield of the tree by extending the life span of its fibres.

VIRGIN – Wood Pulp
New fibre is needed to keep the global fibre cycle going, as recycled fibres degrade after several uses. Currently just over 50% of the fibre used for papermaking across Europe is from Virgin sources.
All fresh fibre we use is from responsibly managed forests, the majority from Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula. Responsible forest management is driving forest growth and biodiversity.

VIRGIN – Non-wood
Cotton is the main non-wood fibre used by the mill. Cotton fibre is the purest form of natural cellulose and an annual renewable resource often used for its archival qualities.
Cotton has a history of permanence, for example Shakespeare’s first folio exists today because it was penned on paper made from cotton fibres.
